There are so many colour and texture possibilities with woven textiles but this season we loved the tonal texture of our three yarn heavy cotton. This uses three different colour cotton yarns wound onto one weft shuttle bobbin so that the three yarns are threaded through the warp loom threads and twisting around each other to give the colour mix between the three yarns. It gives this lovely uneven tonal pattern, which reminds us of landscapes in nature – what do you think?
We try to use handwoven cottons whenever we can, as it helps to employ individuals in Nepal along each part of the process. The women in Bhaktapur who weave all our cottons and Hansilo/Pema scarves are local to the area and have access all day and evening, so can work the hours that suit them with their families.
